What works better than a Vision Board? A Goal Card

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

In my earlier posts, I had written about how to make a Vision Board. No doubt, vision board is a powerful tool for manifesting. But the drawback of using it is that if you are sharing your space with someone, you might not wanna show everyone about your dreams and goals. Also you cannot carry it with you everywhere you wanna go. For example if you want the same vision board in your office or school or college, you cannot carry it with you wherever you go. Of course you can make a digital vision board and put it on your phone. But I believe a physical thing is more powerful than a digital one. So what is the alternative? I call it a Goal Card.

The Goal card is a simple clipped collection of papers or cards which contains things you want to remind yourself about on a continuous basis. It can be the size of your palm or even smaller. You can laminate them for making it more sturdy. It will contain the following in sequence:

1. Big Picture Vision Goal

Imagine you are 100 years old and today is your last day on Earth. So when you look back at your life, how would you have wanted to spent it? What is that you would want ultimately? This is your ultimate big picture for your life. Use this as your basis to make your Goals and decisions. Also, you should write all your goals in present tense as if it has already happened.

2. Goal in 10 years time

Keeping your big picture in mind, in 10 years what action step you would need to take in order to reach there. This is your 10 years vision. Write that down here.

3. Goal in 1 years time

Keeping your 10 years vision in mind, what would be your 1 year action steps in order to reach there. Write that down here. This is your 1 year vision.

4. Your Goals Today

Keeping your 1 year vision in mind, what action steps you should be taking today? Write that down here. These are your daily Goals.

5. Beliefs

Beliefs refer to the conviction or acceptance that something exists or is true, especially without proof.

Use this space to write your beliefs. What empowering beliefs you have about you and your life. For example, "Healthy body and mind are important for maximising human experience", "Abundance is important for quality living", "All living beings are spiritually connected", it could be any religious beliefs as well. When you know your beliefs, you can make your decisions more consciously.

6. Values

Values refer to principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life. Eg. Following your heart, Authenticity, courage, fairness, nonviolence, respect for everyone, loyalty, etc. So write down your values. When you are aligned with your values and beliefs, it becomes easier to make decisions when tough times arise.

7. Logo

Try to make your logo. Something that defines you. Although this is totally optional, but it will create a sense of self. In one glance you will come to know who you are? And what is your ultimate vision and mission in Life.

8. Strengths

List down your strengths. Things and activities you are good at. If you don't know, ask your family, colleagues, friends and peers. It could be managing, painting, leading, being a team player, cooking, teaching, being supportive etc. Whenever your self worth is on all time low, read this card.

9. Passions

List down activities or stuff you are passionate about. It could be painting, reading, researching, cooking, playing a sport, music etc. Whenever your moral is down, do these activities to instantly raise your vibe.

10. Joy

List the things that bring you Joy. It could be as simple as feeling cool breeze on your face in your balcony, or playing with your kid, watching a movie, etc. This is another way for self care. Whenever you feel demotivated you can fall back to these activities which will boost your moral. Listing gratitude here is also an instant way to feel better and joyful.

11. Inspirations

Finally list down your Inspirations, what are the things that inspire you. Like listening to motivational speech or a podcast, reading a good book, doing activities that create a difference in the word, following people who inspire you. When you need inspiration to keep going towards your goal, look at this card.

The beauty of this technique is that it's easy, cost effective and very handy. Also it is completely subjective. You can add, delete or change any card as per your liking and requirement. It is totally subjective. You can make it within a couple of minutes and carry it with you everyday in your purse /wallet or even your pocket.

The important thing to remember is to look at it everyday, especially after waking up in the morning and before sleeping at night. Also, you should write all your goals in present tense as if it has already happened. This way your subconscious mind gets reprogrammed to manifest whatever you desire. Will you apply this technique henceforth.? Or vision board is something that you will prefer. Please comment below and share with our tribe.
